About Physics
Oct. 19th, 2010 12:20 pmI think I've mentioned it before, but it might need explaining. Baby understands Relativity, both special and general, and various quantum theories. She's even working on grasping M-theory. But she doesn't believe it really applies. Not directly, anyway. Sometimes it is hard to explain her thinking, because she doesn't often explain her thinking. From what I can tell, though, she makes no effort to apply what she knows to the world she lives in. I decided to give it a shot anyway, mostly because a friend and I were talking about her "lively world" (everything is alive and has intentions and feelings in her world).
How does the universe work? "Iz juss diz, das all." Then why all these physics lessons and explanations? "Maked mlissa happy. ens fun." Why do you get mad at books that are not correct in their science? "Iz books. Books gossa mash nudder books less beed afusin." Why do things fall when you let go of them? "Wish tings?" (I hold out a ball of rubber bands.) This squishy toy – why does it fall when you let go of it? "Doan gossid sos can led go." Why does it fall when I let go of it? "Wanna beed onna groun. Probly scared ub highds."
Remind me not to ask her too many questions. My mind gets boggled easy.
Bye for now.
